Wilson to Obama: “You Lie!”

Rep. Joe Wil­son yelled “You lie!” dur­ing the President’s speech last night.

I didn’t watch the Dear Leader’s speech to Con­gress and the Amer­i­can peo­ple last night, but boy I heard about it this morn­ing.  Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Joe Wil­son (R — South Car­olina) yelled “You lie!” to the Pres­i­dent last night after Obama’s state­ment that those who were say­ing the health­care bill would cover ille­gals were wrong.  (Dare I say he was call­ing them “liars”?)

I’m sorry, but I can’t con­done this act by Joe Wil­son.  Sure, I agree that Obama was lying, as he has been ever since he got in office.  But to heckle the Pres­i­dent while he’s mak­ing a tele­vised speech is just dis­re­spect­ful of the office.  I don’t care who it is — that is some­thing you don’t do.  I didn’t like it when Cindy Shee­han and all the idiot lib­er­als were doing it to Pres­i­dent Bush, and I don’t like it now.  It’s not the proper place or the time for that.  He is a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the peo­ple of South Car­olina and the Repub­li­can Party.  This action reflects poorly on the peo­ple back home.  There is a rea­son they have a time slot for the opposition’s response after the speech — and that is to rebut what you believe is wrong about what was said by the President.

Now Rep. Wil­son did call and apol­o­gize, and I applaud him for that.  It takes humil­ity to real­ize when you’re wrong.  That being said, I hap­pen to agree with Rep. Wil­son.  Obama has lied and lied to the Amer­i­can peo­ple about his true inten­tions, and what he hopes to achieve.  You only have to look at the peo­ple he sur­rounds him­self with to know that.  William Ayers, Jere­miah Wright, Van Jones, Cass Sun­stein.  He has had to dis­tance him­self from every one of these (except the last, but it’s coming…)

I just hope the Repub­li­can Party real­izes they’re going to have to be smarter than usual when rebut­ting this pres­i­dent.  Unfor­tu­nately he has a rabid fol­low­ing of peo­ple who will believe any­thing he says and will not research things on their own.  They are going to have to rise above the usual polit­i­cal rhetoric and behave more pro­fes­sion­ally than the lib­er­als did dur­ing the Bush  Admin­is­tra­tion.  That is the only way they can rebuild the party and get peo­ple (includ­ing me) to sup­port them again.  And they’re going to have to stick to their core beliefs.  Oth­er­wise, peo­ple like me will be vot­ing for a third party from here on out.

Lesson in Civics or Political Indoctrination?

I’m sure you have heard of Dear Leader Obama giv­ing a speech on Sep­tem­ber 8 directly to school chil­dren across the nation.  Les­son plans for teach­ers have been posted on the Depart­ment of Education’s web­site as well.

Here’s an excerpt from the PreK — 6th Grade Les­son Plan:

As stu­dents lis­ten to the speech, they could think about the following:

  • What is the Pres­i­dent try­ing to tell me? 
  • What is the Pres­i­dent ask­ing me to do?
  • What new ideas and actions is the Pres­i­dent chal­leng­ing me to think about?

Stu­dents can record impor­tant parts of the speech where the Pres­i­dent is ask­ing them to do some­thing. Stu­dents might think about:  What spe­cific job is he ask­ing me to do? Is he ask­ing any­thing of any­one else? Teach­ers? Prin­ci­pals? Par­ents? The Amer­i­can people?

Stu­dents can record any ques­tions they have while he is speak­ing and then dis­cuss them after the speech. Younger chil­dren may need to dic­tate their questions.

I’m on the fence on this.  I’d really like to see a tran­script of his speech so I could know exactly what he plans on telling these impres­sion­able kids.  If he talks about the impor­tance of a great edu­ca­tion or the impor­tance of being involved in civics, then fine.  I don’t really have a prob­lem with that.  However, I do think that this could be con­strued as polit­i­cal heavy-handing of edu­ca­tion — a place the fed­eral gov­ern­ment really has no man­date.  (I’m com­pletely against a fed­eral Depart­ment of Edu­ca­tion, since the States are sup­posed to be in charge of it.)   I just hope it’s not an attempt to indoc­tri­nate the youth of Amer­ica with the “Obama Doctrine”. 

What is so impor­tant that Obama has to address kids dur­ing school hours, and not dur­ing prime time when the par­ents can see it as well?  I remem­ber when I was in school dur­ing the Clin­ton years, we had a project to lis­ten to his “State of the Union” address and write a syn­op­sis of what he was say­ing.  That I have no prob­lem with.  This, how­ever, seems to be cross­ing a very fine line.

There is no clear encour­age­ment of dis­cussing oppos­ing views.  It only says that stu­dents can “share the ideas they recorded”.  Here’s another state­ment from the Les­son Plan, under the sec­tion enti­tled “Exten­sion of the Speech:  Teach­ers can extend learn­ing by hav­ing students…”

Write let­ters to them­selves about what they can do to help the pres­i­dent. These would be col­lected and redis­trib­uted at an appro­pri­ate later date by the teacher to make stu­dents account­able to their goals.

Here I ask:  Help the pres­i­dent do what??  I really want to know what it is he intends on ask­ing these youth.   Also, “make stu­dents account­able” to the goals?  How exactly will they be made accountable?

I think par­ents should take a very strong inter­est in this.  I think at least one should be in atten­dance at their kids’ school that day to watch the speech with them.  You bet­ter believe if I had a kid in school, I would be there.  This seems to be cross­ing a thresh­old into a realm that should be left to the par­ents only.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Diane Wat­son (D — Cal­i­for­nia) gives me the heeby-jeebies.  Here’s why:

It was just men­tioned to me by our esteemed speaker, “Did any­one say any­thing about the Cuban health system?”

And lemme tell ya, before you say “Oh, it’s a commu–”, you need to go down there and see what Fidel Cas­tro put in place. And I want you to know, now, you can think what­ever you want to about Fidel Cas­tro, but he was one of the bright­est lead­ers I have ever met. [APPLAUSE]

And you know, the Cuban rev­o­lu­tion that kicked out the wealthy, Che Gue­vara did that, and then, after they took over, they went out among the pop­u­la­tion to find some­one who could lead this new nation, and they found…well, just leave it there (laughs), an attor­ney by the name of Fidel Castro…

This is from a “town hall” she held in her dis­trict.  Yes, she’s prais­ing Fidel Cas­tro.  But she is a lit­tle con­fused on her his­tory.  Che Gue­vara did not “kick out the wealthy”.  That was actu­ally Cas­tro.  From Biog­ra­phy:

Cas­tro was released in 1955 under an amnesty deal with the Batista gov­ern­ment. He went to Mex­ico, where he met Ernesto “Che” Gue­vara. There he devised a new strat­egy to over­throw the Batista régime based on guer­rilla war­fare. Gue­vara believed that the plight of Latin America’s poor could be rec­ti­fied only through vio­lent rev­o­lu­tion. He joined Castro’s group and became an impor­tant con­fi­dante, shap­ing Castro’s polit­i­cal beliefs.…

Fidel Cas­tro was able to cap­i­tal­ize on the inci­dent to con­sol­i­date his power and fur­ther pro­mote his agenda. On May 1 [1961], Cas­tro announced an end to demo­c­ra­tic elec­tions in Cuba and denounced Amer­i­can impe­ri­al­ism. Then at year’s end, Cas­tro declared him­self a Marxist-Leninist and announced the Cuban gov­ern­ment was adopt­ing com­mu­nist eco­nomic and polit­i­cal poli­cies. On Feb­ru­ary 7, 1962, the United States imposed a full eco­nomic embargo on Cuba, a pol­icy that con­tin­ues to this day.

Any­one who calls Fidel Cas­tro one of the “bright­est” lead­ers needs to be expa­tri­ated to Cuba.  They need to be forced to live under that sys­tem to see just how “great” it is.  If it IS so great for the com­mon Cuban, then why have hun­dreds — if not thou­sands — risked their lives on makeshift rafts to come to Amer­ica?  Why are they still doing so? 

If that is the pol­i­tics these lib­er­als want to espouse, they need to leave our coun­try.  I’m telling you folks — if this is who has con­trol of our coun­try now, it won’t be long before the Amer­ica we know and love  will be gone (if it’s not already).  For the first time in my life, I’m gen­uinely scared of what is to come.  Pray, folks.  Pray for our coun­try — that the Peo­ple of this nation will wake up and rise up and take the coun­try back.

Modern Militias — Are they legal?

This post is in response to the South­ern Povery Law Center’s report that there has been an increase in “anti-government” militias, due to the elec­tion of the first black pres­i­dent.   They also chose to lump every per­son who dis­agrees the the cur­rent Administration’s poli­cies in with a few peo­ple who decided to ter­ror­ize people.

First off, let me quote from the Dec­la­ra­tion of Inde­pen­dence:

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are cre­ated equal, that they are endowed by their Cre­ator with cer­tain unalien­able Rights, that among these are Life, Lib­erty, and the Pur­suit of Hap­pi­ness– That to secure these Rights, Gov­ern­ments are insti­tuted among Men, deriv­ing their just Pow­ers from the Con­sent of the Gov­erned, that when­ever any Form of Gov­ern­ment becomes destruc­tive of these Ends, it is the Right of the Peo­ple to alter or to abol­ish it, and to insti­tute new Gov­ern­ment, lay­ing its Foun­da­tion on such Prin­ci­ples, and orga­niz­ing its Pow­ers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Hap­pi­ness.  Pru­dence, indeed, will dic­tate that Gov­ern­ments long estab­lished should not be changed for light and tran­sient Causes; and accord­ingly all Expe­ri­ence hath shewn, that Mankind are more dis­posed to suf­fer, while Evils are suf­fer­able, than to right them­selves by abol­ish­ing the Forms to which they are accus­tomed.  But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpa­tions, pur­su­ing invari­ably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despo­tism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Gov­ern­ment, and to pro­vide new Guards for their future Secu­rity.  [empha­sis mine]

Read that whole state­ment.  It says that when­ever any form of gov­ern­ment becomes destruc­tive, the Peo­ple have the right to “alter or abol­ish it”.  It also says that this should not be done for super­fi­cial rea­sons; but when a long his­tory of abuse by the gov­ern­ment leads to absolute despo­tism — a form of gov­ern­ment by either an indi­vid­ual or tightly knit group which rules with absolute polit­i­cal power — then it’s the people’s right to stand up against such tyranny.

Our Con­sti­tu­tion dic­tates exactly what the fed­eral government’s role should be in reg­u­lat­ing armed services:

  • To declare War, grant let­ters of Mar­que and Reprisal, and make Rules con­cern­ing Cap­tures on Land and Water;
  • To raise and sup­port Armies, but no appro­pri­a­tion of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two years;
  • To pro­vide and main­tain a Navy; 
  • To make Rules for the Gov­ern­ment and Reg­u­la­tion of the land and naval Forces;
  • To pro­vide for call­ing forth the Mili­tia to exe­cute the Laws of the Union, sup­press Insur­rec­tions and repel Invasions;
  • To pro­vide for orga­niz­ing, arm­ing, and dis­ci­plin­ing, the Mili­tia, and for gov­ern­ing such Part of them as may be employed in the Ser­vice of the United States, reserv­ing to the States respec­tively, the Appoint­ment of the Offi­cers, and the author­ity of train­ing the Mili­tia accord­ing to the dis­ci­pline pre­scribed by Congress;…

The states were sup­posed to select the mili­tia and its offi­cers.  Unfor­tu­nately today that is no longer the case (just look at our National Guard). 

It should be noted that when our coun­try was still a colony, our found­ing fathers orga­nized mili­tias in direct sub­ver­sion to the rul­ing gov­ern­ment of the time — Great Britain and King George III.   The found­ing fathers had enough fore­sight to pro­vide We the Peo­ple with the right to do the same, as long as we do not break any com­mon laws.  If any mili­tia is break­ing the law, then they are crim­i­nals and should be dealt with accordingly.

Mike John­son, of the North Cen­tral Florida Regional Mili­tia, wrote the following:

The well reg­u­lated mili­tias whose offi­cers were appointed by the State gov­ern­ments, and whose train­ing was the respon­si­bil­ity of the State gov­ern­ments have ceased to exist. The National Guard does not fill that bill as its offi­cers are appointed by the national gov­ern­ment and more and more we are see­ing the national gov­ern­ment either dis­band­ing National Guard units  or employ­ing them over­seas. The net result is to ren­der them inef­fec­tive as any sort of check over the power of the national gov­ern­ment. We have also seen that the State level gov­ern­ments as a rule do not seem to want to recre­ate their Con­sti­tu­tional State Mili­tias. Indeed, more often than not, the State level gov­ern­ments per­mit them­selves to be sub­or­di­nated to a greater and greater degree to the national level gov­ern­ment. Hence, the most effec­tive check that the Found­ing Fathers placed on the power of the national level gov­ern­ment has all but dis­ap­peared. 
    Given that this is the case, those peo­ple who see the prob­lems in this sit­u­a­tion have lit­tle choice but to exer­cise their rights as the Found­ing Fathers did ini­tially and orga­nize mili­tia units regard­less of the level of sup­port or hos­til­ity that they receive from their national, state and local gov­ern­ments. The alter­na­tive is to per­mit your­self to be ren­dered all but help­less to reply to the threat of sig­nif­i­cant mil­i­tary force in any rea­son­able manner.

He also says, how­ever, “Real­ize that if you are set­ting your­selves up to be the defend­ers of the Con­sti­tu­tion and the Com­mon Law, then you are bound by their dictates.”

In a word, they are legal — as long as they abide by what our Found­ing Fathers intended them for.  The whole pur­pose was to guard against inva­sion or a strong, despotic fed­eral gov­ern­ment.  And right now, I believe our fed­eral gov­ern­ment is on a slip­pery slope.  Our Rep­re­sen­ta­tives and Sen­a­tors do not lis­ten to us.  Our voices in Wash­ing­ton are not being heard.  That is why the lat­est “town hall meet­ings” have been shout­ing matches.  Peo­ple are dis­gusted and frus­trated.  I truly hope that those in Wash­ing­ton will wake up and do what they were elected to do:  rep­re­sent their con­stituents.  Oth­er­wise, we may have another rev­o­lu­tion on the hori­zon.  And I hope that is not the case.

Un-American?

I am utterly and com­pletely dis­gusted with politi­cians.  If you haven’t been liv­ing under a rock lately, then you know about the pas­sion­ate dis­courses that have been hap­pen­ing at town hall meet­ings around the nation on Oba­macare.  Well, accord­ing to Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, the peo­ple that have been ask­ing ques­tions at the town hall meet­ings have been act­ing in an “un-American” way.

How­ever, it is now evi­dent that an ugly cam­paign is under­way not merely to mis­rep­re­sent the health insur­ance reform leg­is­la­tion, but to dis­rupt pub­lic meet­ings and pre­vent mem­bers of Con­gress and con­stituents from con­duct­ing a civil dia­logue,” the two lead­ers write. “These dis­rup­tions are occur­ring because oppo­nents are afraid not just of dif­fer­ing views — but of the facts them­selves. Drown­ing out oppos­ing views is sim­ply un-American.

This is straight from an op-ed essay the two wrote, pub­lished by USA Today.  I’m sorry, but I think they’re liv­ing in an Alice-in-Wonderland world.  Shov­ing a health­care reform bill, that no one has com­pletely read and is social­is­tic at best down the throats of The Peo­ple, is un-American.

This dis­course is the epit­ome of what our coun­try is about — every­day peo­ple being pas­sion­ate about what is hap­pen­ing in Wash­ing­ton and what will affect them directly.  Never in my life­time has this hap­pened.  I’m glad to see peo­ple stand­ing up for what they believe in and not tak­ing what their “rep­re­sen­ta­tives” say at face value.  The politi­cians need to be knocked off their high horse and brought back down to real­ity.  They’ve been liv­ing in their own dream world for far too long.

Per­son­ally, I would like to see GOOOH(Get Out Of Our House) suc­ceed in get­ting every sin­gle politi­cian out of Wash­ing­ton and replaced with aver­age peo­ple that will have the Nation’s best inter­ests at heart, peo­ple who won’t be on their own “ben­e­fits pack­age” or try­ing to secure their own per­sonal Gulf­streams to fly around in.

It’s about time for a real change — not a “Change to Social­ism” that Obama has been promis­ing to do.

How will we win?

twin towersLast night I was going through the numer­ous DVDs that I own.  I came across the CNN Spe­cial DVD, “CNN Trib­ute:  Amer­ica Remem­bers — The Events of Sep­tem­ber 11 and America’s Response”.  So I decided to pop it in and watch it.  As hor­ri­fy­ing as it was on the day it hap­pened, and as hor­ri­fy­ing it was to relive that day by watch­ing the DVD, I think it was impor­tant to do.  And I think every Amer­i­can should watch this over and over just so they can remem­ber what the “zealot ter­ror­ist thugs” did to us — and what we as a Nation vowed to do to them.

The DVD has Pres­i­dent Bush’s “State of the Union” address from Sep­tem­ber 20, 2001 also.  I watched the speech and imme­di­ately received chill­bumps and a lump in my throat.  It was a pow­er­ful speech, and it was from his heart.  It was what every Amer­i­can across the nation was say­ing in their heart.  It was what we wanted our Pres­i­dent to say.  Now where are we as a Nation almost eight years later?  Amer­ica — what have we done to our­selves?  What hap­pened to our vow to “Never For­get”?  What hap­pened to our promise to do what­ever it takes to defeat terrorism? 

Unfor­tu­nately it wasn’t but a few months after that fate­ful day that we as a Nation dis­solved into par­ti­san pol­i­tics, rhetoric, and hatred.  Every Demo­c­rat decided to hate Bush sim­ply because we didn’t fin­ish the War or Ter­ror in four days like we did the Gulf War in 1991.  Nutjobs climbed out of their hid­ing holes to say that 9/11 was an “inside job”.  They began say­ing that (as in the case of one Rosie O’Donnell) that the Twin Tow­ers fell because of a “con­trolled demo­li­tion” by the Bush Administration…that steel couldn’t melt.  Well, I chal­lenge them to go and watch this DVD and see if they could say that after­wards with hon­esty.  (Of course they can’t — they don’t have an hon­est bone in their body).  America — I beg you to remem­ber this:

Amer­i­cans are ask­ing: How will we fight and win this war?

We will direct every resource at our com­mand — every means of diplo­macy, every tool of intel­li­gence, every instru­ment of law enforce­ment, every finan­cial influ­ence, and every nec­es­sary weapon of war — to the dis­rup­tion and defeat of the global ter­ror network.

This war will not be like the war against Iraq a decade ago, with its deci­sive lib­er­a­tion of ter­ri­tory and its swift con­clu­sion. It will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a sin­gle Amer­i­can was lost in combat.

Our response involves far more than instant retal­i­a­tion and iso­lated strikes.  Amer­i­cans should not expect one bat­tle, but a lengthy cam­paign, unlike any other we have seen. It may include dra­matic strikes, vis­i­ble on tele­vi­sion, and covert oper­a­tions, secret even in suc­cess. We will starve ter­ror­ists of fund­ing, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or rest. And we will pur­sue nations that pro­vide aid or safe haven to ter­ror­ism. Every nation, in every region, now has a deci­sion to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the ter­ror­ists. From this day for­ward, any nation that con­tin­ues to har­bor or sup­port ter­ror­ism will be regarded by the United States as a hos­tile régime.

Go read the rest of the speech.  Try to remem­ber what it felt like on that day.  Then try and look at our cur­rent Pres­i­dent and Gov­ern­ment and ask your­self:  Is this what Amer­ica needs right now?  Is this the lead­er­ship we deserve?  How can we fight and win this war with this government?

Then I ask you to do this…pray for our Coun­try.  Pray for our troops.  And yes, pray — pray for our cur­rent lead­er­ship.  Pray that they will turn from their cur­rent path and back to a Post-9/11 men­tal­ity and approach to defeat­ing ter­ror­ism and keep­ing Amer­ica safe.  Pray that they will stop spend­ing our money and putting us on a road to social­ism.  Pray that they will real­ize that what we need right now is a fis­cally and socially con­ser­v­a­tive gov­ern­ment, one that has the peo­ple at the heart…Not big­ger gov­ern­ment, but smaller.

In all that lies before us, may God grant us wis­dom, and may He watch over the United States of America.

Theme Changes

As you may have noticed, I switched back to an old theme yes­ter­day.  The rea­son for this is I am in the process of tweak­ing the “other” theme to bet­ter reflect the per­son­al­ity of this blog.  I sus­pect it may take a while, since I have “fallen off the bike” of web themes.  I’m also look­ing for a cus­tom theme for this site, so if any of you graphic design­ers would like to design my theme, please drop me a line.

I have decided to fur­ther mar­ket this blog as a conservative/political blog, mostly based on our cur­rent Government’s actions.  Let’s just say that I’m tired of sit­ting back and not really speak­ing out.  Things are about to get serious.

A co-worker (Hey L!) pointed me in the direc­tion of In The Fight, which I have joined today.  I urge you to please do the same if you’re sick and tired of Con­gress and Obama leg­is­lat­ing away your rights.  It’s soon going to hit us all that the coun­try our fathers and fore­fa­thers fought for is dis­ap­pear­ing right before our eyes.

It’s been over a month since my last post.  With the state of our nation to things going on at work, I just haven’t found the time to sit down and jot down my thoughts.  I sup­pose I have just become so dis­gusted with our gov­ern­ment and politi­cians that I found myself with my mouth and mind wide open, but noth­ing com­ing out…I am that frustrated.

I’m sick of our Pres­i­dent stick­ing his nose where it doesn’t belong (à la “Gates-gate”).  I’m also sick and tired of him try­ing to push on ordi­nary Amer­i­cans his redicu­lous “Oba­macare” that isn’t going to do any­thing but fur­ther bank­rupt our coun­try and turn cit­i­zens into Obam­abots.  But of course, that’s what he wants.   He wants peo­ple to NOT be self-sufficient, but to rely on the gov­ern­ment for any­thing from tooth­paste to toupees to Tylenol.

I just lis­tened to an inter­est­ing clip of Fred Thompson’s show where he inter­viewed a woman by the name of Betsy McCaughey, for­mer lieu­tenant gov­er­nor of New York.  She had just read the House “Oba­macare” bill, which will deny health care to the elderly.  It’s almost Soy­lent Green come true — the only thing the big “G” isn’t doing is turn­ing the elderly into lit­tle green wafers.   She said that the bill makes it manda­tory that peo­ple in Medicare have to go through a coun­sel­ing ses­sion every five years that teaches them how to end their life sooner.  How crazy is this??

We must stop this crazy, out-of-control, run­away Gov­ern­ment train.  This is enough to make my eyes pop out of my head!
