Tomorrow is very important day for all of us who live in the United States, if not for all of us in the world. Tomorrow we celebrate Thanksgiving, a time to fellowship with family and friends and celebrate life and life together. It’s also the time we gives thanks to God for all the blessings he has bestowed on us through the year.
I’ve noticed a trend that has been going on in the blogosphere, where everyone lists what they are thankful for. In that spirit, I decided that I would list those things I am most thankful for — 31 things for 31 years of life on this earth.
So here I go - I’m thankful for…(after the fold):
- First and foremost, I am thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ, the Anointed Son of God. Lately I haven’t been very active in our church, much to my own shame. Unfortunately I’ve let worldly things get in the way of my relationship with Him, but now is my time to get back. He hasn’t left me — I pulled away from him. No more.
- My wife: I know I can be difficult to live with sometimes, but she’s been great.
I love her very much, and I am very blessed to have her in my life. - My family — all my brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Life would be boring without you guys!
- My Mom. She’s a trooper. I know this year has been very rough on her with us losing my Dad back in March. I love you, Mom!
- My Dad. You taught me so much and through your and Mom’s sacrifices I was able to fulfill my dreams. I miss you very much. I learned a lot from you, and I’m still learning. I just wish we could have had more time together. I’ll never forget our trip to WordCamp Dallas 2008 — I had so much fun with you.
- My wife’s family — I’m very blessed to have the in-laws I do.
- My job — I’m glad I have a great-paying job with wonderful benefits. I’m very blessed considering the way the economy is right now.
- My wife’s job. It always helps to have another income
- My coworkers — There’s not a single one of them I don’t get along with. I consider them all good friends. It makes for a great working environment.
- My home. It’s great to have a place to come home to and lay your head at night. I know there are a lot of people out there who don’t have one due to the bad economy.
- My vehicle. Gotta have a way to get to that job, and it has hardly given me any significant trouble.
- The clothes on my back.
- The water that comes through the faucets — only God knows how many people out there that live without clean, running water.
- The electricity I can turn on through the flip of a switch.
- The food we can buy through a simple trip to the supermarket.
- The sun that shines and the temperate climate I live in…I don’t think I could handle the extremes of cold or hot.
- My health. God has blessed me with good health, and I don’t have any significant health problems.
- My education. I’m very blessed to have attended great schools, and have a great degree. I’m glad I had the support from my wonderful parents to help get me through.
- My friends — whether new or old you have all blessed me in some way. Now let’s get back together and hang out and have fun!
- My blogging / online friends. It’s always good to “meet” new people from different regions and different walks of life. It helps give you perspective.
- Coffee!! If it wasn’t for you, dear friend, I wouldn’t be able to function in the mornings. Ha!!
- Freedom. Of Religion, of Speech…of everything!
- The United States of America — my home sweet home! With all of our problems and disagreements, we still live in the best country of the world.
- Electronic gadgets — computers, phones, game consoles…I love to tinker on these things.
- The internet — It’s such a wonderful tool, and let’s face it: This blog wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the internetz!!
- For WordPress — Thanks to Matt Mullenweg and the great WordPress team for such a user-friendly platform! Again, this blog wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for WP!
- For Facebook…It’s a great tool to help keep in touch with friends.
- The opportunity to travel to other parts of the world (see number 6!) and be able to experience other cultures and other languages. One of these days I will go back to Roma and London!
- For music and the talent to sing — it’s such a great release when your down in the dumps or extremely happy or frustrated to just drive and belt out your favorite songs!
- For good entertainment and anything that makes me laugh.
- And last but certainly not least: The Military — Our soldiers and sailors, our coast guard, our marines and SEALs. If it weren’t for you guys and gals, we wouldn’t have any of the above. My thoughts and prayers are always with you, and I fully support you no matter what.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
