B.J. Johnson Update: Grand Jury Findings to Become Public Thursday

Well, it’s about time.  The grand jury in the Billy Joe Johnson case will release their findings of a two-month investigation into his death this Thursday at 1:30 P.M. CST.  It will take place at the George County Justice Court building in Lucedale.

At least 30 witnesses have testified before the grand jury, which is reviewing evidence into whether criminal wrongdoing occurred during the traffic stop that ended with the teen’s death from a gunshot wound to the head.  It has been suggested that it was an accidental self-inflicted wound.

I just hope that this will close the book on this tragedy.  I hope the decision by the grand jury will be respected, which ever way it falls.  My prayers continue to be with the family.

i don’t think bj shot himself on purpose.i think he was afraid when the cop saw the gun he would really be in trouble,so he grabbed it by the barrell to hide it and it went off. probably was not on safety. i have went to school since kindergarden with bj and he would never take his own life ‚i think the gun was probably old and the trigger was loose. and the gun went off killing my frienf bj..i also have played football with him.everyone else knew he had a future in football

I agree with you. That’s actually what I’ve thought from the beginning, based on what everyone was telling me that did know him personally. I just pray after this the family can have closure.
