Uncle Dan

I just received word that my uncle, Daniel McKinnis Rustin, died this morning.  He was 79.  He was born to my grandfather, Daniel McKennis Rustin, and his first wife, Annie Eleanor Andrews, on November 29, 1929.  He was the oldest of ten children, six full-blood siblings and three half-blood siblings.  He never married.

I did not know my uncle as well as I would have liked.  I haven’t seen him in a few years.  He was a smart, quiet, but deliberate man.  I always liked listening to him tell stories not only of his early years but of my grandfather, who died when I was only six.  At one time in his life he owned an electronics shop in Jackson.

I ask that you remember my family during this time of grieving.  Uncle Dan, you will be missed.
