This is unbelievable. I had no idea that my hometown had a blues band. But apparently it does:
Lucedale-based blues-rock act 3 Karat Diamond (Garrett Pitts/guitar,
Clay Parker/Drums and Ian Mallett/bass) recently returned from a
whirlwind blues tour of France for the annual Blues in Chedigny music
festival. Their trip was part of a cultural exchange made possible
through the village of Chedigny, France and the Shed BBQ and Blues
Joint in Ocean Springs.
The group won a competition at The Shed BBQ back in April, when they blew away the competition with their rendition of Cream’s “Crossroads”. The exchange was set up by Pierre Louault, mayor of Chedigny, and Hazel Turner, widow of great blues legend Big Joe Turner. To read more of the article, go here.
Way to go, guys. You have brought positive recognition to our little hamlet. I look forward to hearing you live one day — perhaps next weekend at the “5th Ever ShedHed Blues Fest” on September 20.
